The Swedish coffee roasters recommend a gutsy restaurant in Copenhagen, a brilliant canteen in Malmö and their favourite natural wine importer

EATING OUT

Bror

Sankt Peders Stræde 24A, 1453 København; +45 32 17 59 99, www.restaurantbror.dk
“This is a really good restaurant in Copenhagen that uses unusual cuts of meat. One of their signature starters is deep-fried bull’s balls with tartar sauce and they serve things like half a pig’s head and lamb’s brain. It has the feel of a laid-back neighbourhood restaurant, with old chairs and tables, but everything they serve is amazing. It’s different.” – Anne

Amass

Refshalevej 153, 1432 København; +45 43 58 43 30, www.amassrestaurant.com
“Amass is really good. Matt [Orlando] was head chef at Noma and left to set up his own place. It’s less focused on Nordic ingredients: they take influences from all over the place. Everything is done extremely carefully, with finesse. Matt is very experimental, he keeps changing the menu, every time you go it’s very different. It’s a really cool place.”

Atelier September (pictured above)

Gothersgade 30, 1123 København K; +45 26 29 57 53, www.atelierseptember.dk
“Atelier September is great for breakfasts and light lunches [it’s not open for dinner]. It’s a cool place. The food is really good and I love Frederik [Bille Brahe], the guy who owns it. And you can buy really good wines there.”

Saltimporten

Grimsbygatan 24, 211 20 Malmö; +46 70 651 84 26, www.saltimporten.com
“We need to eat out in Malmo more. When we go there, we usually go to Saltimporten, which is really good. It’s only a lunch canteen but the food is great. The two guys who run it got a really cheap place down on the harbour and renovated it – it’s really beautiful.”

Bastard

Mäster Johansgatan 11, 211 21 Malmö; +46 40 12 13 18, www.bastardrestaurant.se
“Bastard is good and you won’t go hungry there – the portions are big. In the summer they have an outdoor oven and make really nice pizzas.” – Charles

Studio

Havnegade 44, 1058 København K; +45 72 14 88 08, www.thestandardcph.dk/studio/om-studio/
“This place is really good. The chef is Torsten Vildgaard who used to run the test kitchen at Noma.” – Charles

BUYING IN

Rosforth & Rosforth

Knippelsbrogade 10, 1409 København; +45 33 32 55 20, www.rosforth.dk
“We buy a lot of wine from this importer in Copenhagen. They do really good food as well – during the summer they put on dinners under the bridge with long tables and benches.” – Anne

Torvehallerne

Frederiksborggade 21, 1360 København K; www.torvehallernekbh.dk
Anne and Charles stock up regularly at this buzzing semi-covered food market in Copenhagen, which is open seven days a week. “You can get lots of good organic vegetables. The fishmongers and butchers are excellent and there’s really good Danish organic cheeses. Coffee Collective have a café there, which is always nice. And the taco stand[footnote]Hija de Sanchez, run by former Noma pastry chef Rosio Sanchez and backed by René Redzepi [/footnote] is good. They have everything there, basically.”

Brödkultur

Henry Dunkers Plats 1, 252 67 Helsingborg; +46 42 18 74 18, www.facebook.com
Anne and Charles pick up sourdough bread for lunch at this bakery near their flat in Helsingborg. “It’s where we buy all our bread. The guy who runs it is doing a very good job.” – Charles

Höganäs Saluhall

Bruksgatan 36, 263 39 Höganäs; +46 42 34 25 01, www.hoganassaluhall.se
“There are a couple of good countryside farm shops not far from Helsingborg, where you can go and buy good meat, good vegetables. The selection at this one is kind of limited but the produce is excellent quality. We go there maybe once a week.” – Anne
