In which we embark on an epic road trip around Ireland gathering the best food stories, recommendations and recipes the country has to offer

After nearly a year of researching, driving, rummaging around in people’s kitchens, asking nosey questions and eating (lots and lots of eating), our new issue of Fork in the Road is ready to go.

The destination this time is the Republic of Ireland, a country that has a special place in our hearts. Most of us at The Gannet are from Ireland after all, and though we’ve lived in London for more than a decade, we felt we had a pretty good sense of what was bubbling up, food-wise, in our native country.

Turns out we didn’t know the half of it. Ireland is going through a period of culinary creativity that is wider and deeper than we ever suspected. It’s always had good restaurants and exceptional produce – from raw-milk cheese to grass-fed beef to probably the best oysters in the world– but lately the energy and excitement around Irish food has reached a pitch that astonished us once we began taking a closer look.

The result of our investigations is a handsome 80-page magazine that is full of useful tips about places to eat and food to take home with you – and if you roll it up it will fit very nicely into your back pocket. You can pick up a copy from our webshop right now – simple click this link and we’ll take care of the rest. Stories include:

Cover interview with Jess Murphy of Kai restaurant in Galway
An insider’s guide to Cork City drinking dens
A look inside three very different Irish home kitchens
A seafood adventure in Inishbofin
10 essential Irish food experiences

We hope you like it.
